P Henry Rodriguez Designated for Assignment

Everybody’s wrong sometimes, right?

Earlier today, I suggested that Henry Rodriguez would stay and Michael Bowden would be designated for assignment to make room for recently claimed outfielder Cole Gillespie.

I was wrong, and Rodriguez has been DFA’d instead.  They must really have been discouraged by his last appearance if they were to designate him– after all, he has hit 102 MPH on the radar gun this season, which is simply astonishing.

He has 10 days to be traded or released and is no longer on the Cubs’ 40-man roster.  My only guess is that they will attempt to trade him and believe they can get more for Rodriguez than Bowden, but I guess we shall see.

The Cubs play their final game in the first half tonight on ESPN at 7:05 PM CT. Gillespie will wear no. 2 for the Cubbies.
