More Cubs Rumors, 7/13/13

The rumor mill has slowed down considerably since we last spoke, so this will be a shorter post.
- The Cubs’ asking price on Matt Garza is still very high, as it should be. Not surprisingly, teams are not bending over backwards to pay for him yet.
- The Indians are looking for pitchers that are under control beyond 2013 and not just rental players, which does not bode well for the Cubs and Garza.
- I have finally heard Nate Schierholtz mentioned in trade talks. No specific rumors, but I do not expect him to go this season. He isn’t eligible for free agency, he’s having a career year, and is one of the only consistent players the Cubs have in the field. On the flip side, he’s hitting just .138 in July, and just .240 in his past 30 games. So there’s that.
That’s all for now, go Cubs!
